Chad McKey & Steve Shiver–Navigator Marine Electronics, LLC–have done a lot of work on our older (1980) trawler, including rewiring entirely. That included pulling out several buckets full of old wiring–not an easy task. They are totally knowledgable, dependable and reasonable in their charges. I have used Chad & Steve for many projects on the boat during the past 13 months, including installation of a Garmin chartplotter & depth sounder, installation of a digital TV antenna, re-wiring an existing entertainment system, installation of a new fluxgate compass for the autopilot, and re-wiring the DC electrical system in the engine room to comply with current ABYC requirements. The DC re-wiring involved new batteries, and installation of many new terminal strips & fuses to eliminate all the connections to the batteries.
All their work was done in a very neat, organized, and professional manner. The new wiring around the batteries was especially impressive. On most of my projects, they had to troubleshoot systems & chase wires, because of the age of my boat & the carelessness of previous contractors.
Even though their billing rates are reasonable, they always ask if their time on the job is agreeable. Additionally, they have conducted training “off the clock”, and will frequently follow up later by phone to see if their equipment is functioning properly.
I have passed their business cards around the marinas, and will continue to recommend them to all boaters along the Central Gulf Coast.
To update our original comments: Chad & Steve completely redid our old, smelly closets. They cedar lined them & they are beautiful & smell good! They also installed LED lights in closets & other places. Would be happy to show their work to anyone interested. They also put in a new TV/radio/stereo system & upgraded our electronics. In a word, they are WONDERFUL!
